It is a film I made about my visit to the Sequoia National Park on July 20, 2010.
A few details about the video:
– It was filmed with a Panasonic SD60 1080i camcorder.
– I used Edius 5 for editing.
– I was roughly 10-12 yards from the bears.
– And, no, I was not scared (I was actually too excited to feel danger :).
– A written account is available about the content of this video. If you are interested head to rince-art.blogspot.com and search for the last day of the Route 66 journal.

@drawnacrol Edius did not compress it (at least not noticeably). YouTube, on the other hand, did. The overall quality of SD60 is somewhat better than what you see on this video. It is, however, worth mentioning that SD60 is a 1080i camcorder. But, if you can live with that I would recommend getting one (they are usually below $400).
@drawnacrol Interlaced (look it up on wikipedia; it would be hard trying to explain it here).
wow amazing quality and close ups, how did you approach the animals that close without scaring them away?
and did you use a stabilizer or tripod?
@hairybearz Thank you!
Yes, I used a tripod to achieve a higher degree of stabilization. I think it is a must in video or photography. As for the animals, they are unbelievably domesticated in the park due to the large number of visitors they encounter year around.
If you would like to read more about my experiences in the park (basically what you see in this video) head to rince-art.blogspot.com and search for the last day of my Route 66 Journal.
I'm very homesick for California. Thanks for this incredible video!
Fantastic work! I was in Lodgepole in June and your film brought it all back, including twice seeing a sow and two cubs and a very large male tearing apart a downed tree. Very nice work–thank you!
I went there around July 2nd, 2010.
Oddly, the Sequoia National "Forest" is south of here and has relatively no trees. It's the National Park that has the trees.
