SIERRA NEVADA MOUNTAINS – I’M BACK…Finally! 4K | Eastern Sierra | Full Time Truck Camper Living

I finally make it back to my favorite mountain range THE SIERRA after a recent winter storm cleared the area of wildfires and long lingering smoke (filmed November 2020). I start out on a stunning hike around Convict Lake. Then head up to Twin Lakes in the Mammoth Lakes Basin and end the day at the beautiful geothermal Hot Creek basin. It feels so good to be back in what I consider to be my home turf. It’s where I discovered the mountains and did my first backpacking trips. Come along and experience the beauty with me!

  1. The whitish critter looks like a ferret maybe some sort of weasel? The other like a type of rat, we have Steven's Kangaroo Rat (a protected species) in my area of Riverside CA it sort of looks like that but bigger and doesn't hop like the ones we have. Interesting!

  2. I commented on another of your videos of the Eastern Sierras that I have been RV camping the area since I was a boy in the 1950's.
I have always had the impression that this is one of the spots on Earth where God stops by to rest!

  3. The best views and hiking there is as far as I'm concerned. I go backpacking in the Sierra for at least a couple of weeks every year. Came up a bit short in 2020 due to the Creek Fire driving me and a couple of hiking buddies out several days early. Ash falling like snow in Evolution Basin and LeConte Canyon. We saw the mushroom cloud from the start of the fire when we were hiking in over Lamark Col, but didn't fully know what it meant

  4. Catherine, as always, a spectacular video! Thank you for sharing this place in particular. Mammoth Lakes and the surrounding areas are personal to me, as I used to come up every summer, July, for many years. Have been up there for well over 10 years now. The Twin Lakes being one of my favorite spots to fish. I really miss this place. My sister has a condo up there near the village, so the last few times I went, I stayed there opposed to a condo rental elsewhere.

  5. Catherine…. your. Ideas are so engaging! I get pulled into the story and then it is over! After we just get started! 😒Crank up the content girl!!!we love your stuff! ** Jack

  6. Thank you so much for sharing Convict Lake I haven't been there in 33 years and now I'm going back this year for sure after watching your video it brought back so many good memories of me and my friends of many years ago and my late brother I really enjoyed that video part of your YouTube segment I can't remember if I walked around the lake or not but I'm pretty sure I did we used to go up there at least once every 3 months thank you again.

  7. Pretty sure from the Fur it was an Ermine, Like a Weasel ( a Ferret is in the same family too ) but much prettier nicer fur on an Ermine ( in which they were hunted for, to make coats, yuck) It was chasing it's lunch, they are very vicious when it comes to hunting and they eat meat . There's still way too much trapping in Alaska for fur, sad. I love the Sierra's fell in love with them when I was a kid on trips to Lone Pune and a trek up Whitney. Now I have on my bucket list THE BIG THREE Jeep trails to do, Rubicon, Fordyce and The Dusy . Great vid, short sweet and beautiful….Keep living the good life Ms. Cat, Cheers!

  8. WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! Beautiful, love Mammoth Lakes Basin especially Hot Creek basin. The mountains are always calling me even though I live in the plains. Thanks for the memories and love your music selection on this video also. Take care!

  9. And just think, for years I lived a few hour's drive from the Sierras. I miss the scenery, I do not miss the Fascist tyranny that the majority of CA residents have gleefully embraced. The smartest California residents are those who are moving to a different state. There's a great thing about being a nomad: your home is mobile, and not only can you go where you want, but if things get dangerous or scary where you are, you can go to a better place.

Anyway, I LOVE the Sierras, and I LOVE the videos you make with scenery from the Sierras. Especially the eastern portion, this is difficult for people from Northern Cal to get to, because there are only a few roads that cross the crest, including none between Yosemite and Bakersfield. I was in Bridgeport and Twin Lakes, and that's it. So your videos are showing me what I missed. Lovely area! Hugs, Catherine.

  10. Just found your channel, and absolutely love your editing. Thank you for giving my home turf some love!
