P&O Ventura cruise to Spain, Portugal & Canary Islands August-2023. La Palma.

Our second port. Santa Cruz de La Palma is a lovely place to spend time just wandering.
On the advice of relatives who regularly holiday on the island, we stayed in Santa Cruz. The town is awash with historical buildings & lovely plazas. We wandered along the pedestrian Casa O’Daly & Anselmo Pérez de Britos towards the Naval Museum, which his housed in a replica of Christopher Columbus’ ship, the Santa Maria. Obviously, we took advantage of the many local shops along the way! Half-way along is the particularly impressive Plaza España; a very picturesque courtyard comprising the historical town hall building (Ayuntamiento), palm trees, statues and the equally impressive Church of El Salvador.
Our return to the ship was along Avenida Maritima, adorned with more beautiful historic, wooden balconied buildings and running parallel with the beach, with its famous black sand.
Adiós La Palma; I’m sure we will be back!
