Must-See Rooftop Bars & Patios in Cartagena, Colombia!

Hey it’s Tom and Mike from take time to travel we spend 3 months exploring all over carda and trying lots of its spectacular rooftop patios as well as some exciting bars today we’re going to take you on a carda rooftop bar and Patio tour to show you some of the best

Options in the city where you’ll find some great ideas on where to grab a bite to eat and something to drink in carda columb IA we’ll start by walking through the main City Gate into the central neighborhood to go to this bright yellow building for dinner at Mirador gastro

Bar let’s head inside the restaurant and make our way up the many flights of stairs past the green covered walls to their rooftop Terrace we made sure to go early so that we could get a nice spot with a beautiful view right at the railing there’s a couple of levels up

Here but we preferred the main floor which had a fantastic view overlooking the clock tower Monument it’s certainly a great spot for some pictures to start we had a couple of Club Columbia beers which the waiter did a terrible job pouring once the foam had finally gone

We were able to enjoy our nice cold beers and people watched down to the main Square called Plaza Doos Coes then for our appetizer we shared the corano ceviche with fresh fish marinated in leche de Tigre corn avocado ripe banana and grilled cheese the ceviche was very

Tasty we loved the mixture of flavors and the lights on the clock tower gave off a lovely glow creating a nice atmosphere for our main course Mike had the vegetarian burrito with bell peppers zucchini mushrooms grilled eggplant cream cheese and caramelized onions and I chose the Peruvian fish which is the

Catch of the Day in yellow chili sauce with shrimp and M mashed potatoes the Peruvian fish was quite flavorful we really enjoyed everything that we had here that night had a DJ but other nights they have a Latin band playing we had an amazing meal at Mirador gastrobar

But let’s keep going on our Rooftop Bar and Patio tour to the next place which is also in Centro and is located next to Plaza dewana a top the high-end sopia Hotel out front of which you will quite often see l lots of horsedrawn carriages passing by now let’s make our way inside

And show you what rooftop urania is like we took the elevator up to the top floor and walked over to their beautiful rooftop Terrace and got a spot on one of their outdoor couches just in time to watch the sun setting it seems to be a popular spot to Lounge next to their

Rooftop pool from here you can see the domes of the 16th century sanctuario to San Pedro clav church and the towers of boa Grande making for the perfect spot to enjoy a nice cold Club Columbia beer to drink cheers what a great place to relax and enjoy the hot weather and as

The sun set the lights came on around the Terrace which made the view even more special we really enjoyed spending the evening here and having a few drinks the atmosphere was amazing but let’s continue on our tour there’s lots more to eat and drink next we’ll head over to

Card’s manga neighborhood which has an amazing view across the bay of cardas to the high-rises of Castillo Grande and boka Grande it’s a gorgeous spot to watch the sunset and is where you’ll find the 18th century Fort San Sebastian Del pastelo inside of which is where we’ll be having dinner at the upscale

Caribbean restaurant called resturante Fuerte de San Sebastian Del Pasto we made an early reservation so that we could choose which table we wanted on their beautiful and spacious Terrace which even had a glass floor exposing some of the fortification and the cannonballs and right beside there were these alcoves where the Cannons would

Have gone which now had these cute little private tables for two there were also some of the original guard houses after exploring we checked out the menu and enjoyed this spe spectacular view of the sun beginning to set across the bay then we started our meal with a couple

Of Club Columbia beers to drink as usual it was a great way to cool down on that hot evening as we took in the scenery of the yacht club and the sunset and if you’re wondering what all these people are doing it’s a wedding party on the

Lower Terrace then they served us a complimentary Bread Basket which was followed by our main courses I chose the Corvina fillet with with a grilled green leak sauce basil and lemon juice served with Crispy rice sweet corn tomatoes and Sprouts we shared the fresh vegetables bowl mixed in lemon dressing with

Roasted vegetables eggplant escapes avocado Tomatoes pickled onions roasted pepper and mozzarella cheese and Tom got the chicken roulette for his entree which is a grilled chicken breast roll with eggplant caviar sweet bell pepper pesto and roasted right plantain the fish the chicken and the veggie dishes were all delicious

We really loved our meal here it was the perfect setting for a lovely dinner after that we’ll head over to the San Diego neighborhood in the walled City for a meal at the sofel legend hotel which was formerly a 17th century Convent that’s been converted into a luxury accommodation with a few

Spectacular restaurants and bars like this gorgeous patio called jardan Santa Clara The Hidden and secluded Terrace is surrounded by lush tropical vegetation making for a very picturesque setting and when we went we had it all to ourselves after looking through their menu we ordered a couple of agila beers

To begin our dinner and a little bit later a few monks came out to light the candles around the Terrace in a unique lighting ceremony and then the rest of the lights throughout the garden came on creating a very stunning atmosphere what a beautiful spot for our meal which

Began with a complimentary dish of fried plantain chips that came with a couple of dipping sauces we thought that this was a great local alternative to the bread baskets you get elsewhere we really liked the plantain chips shortly after that our main courses arrived Mike chose the duck confi and mushroom

Lasagna which was smothered in cheese with fragrant tomato sauce and came with a side of Creole potatoes with Chipotle aoli and I ordered the Char grilled free range chicken with hibiscus sauce which also included a side of Creole potatoes our dinner here was very memorable both the duck lasagna and the chicken were

Very tasty we would definitely recommend jardan Santa Clara if you’re looking for a more upscale experience it was one of our favorites in carda the next patio will show is also in the sofel legend Santa Clara hotel and has an impressive view of the pool and the colonial

Architecture let’s head up the stairs and check it out this spacious rooftop Terrace is called btia Santa Clara bar it has lots of comfortable Lounge seating and attractive conversation areas as well as a Scenic perspective of the Caribbean Sea on one side and on the other where we chose to sit had a

Picturesque View overlooking the courtyard which was gorgeous this has to be the nicest pool in carda here Mike decided to get something kind of different to drink he ordered a club Columbia melada which comes with lemon juice and a rim covered in salt and spicy peppers and I just stuck with a

Regular Club Columbia to drink as usual this was Mike’s first time trying a melada and he was surprised by the mix of flavors around the rim but he thought it was okay he was glad he tried it but he switched back to a regular Club Columbia beer after that though once the

Sun started to set and a little later the DJ was replaced by this amazing saxophonist who played some upbeat versions of popular songs which was fantastic then it didn’t take long for the patio to fill up and the string lights to come on creating an incredible setting we loved btia Santa Clara bar

It’s the perfect place to grab a drink and relax on a hot night in carda next we’ll head over to the vibrant neighborhood of getsemane to this Lively party street called Cay 28 it’s lined with many restaurants and bars with ptio sprawling out into the narrow Alleyway and there’s lots of lights and

Decorations hanging overhead making for a fun vibe any one of these many patios would be a terrific spot to stop and have a drink but we decided to grab a seat at this one called alos chingazos it has a colorful rooftop Terrace with lots of plants and flowers although we

Preferred to be where the action was and ordered a couple of Club Columbia beers to drink we had an excellent time having a few beers on this party Street it was the perfect place for people watching and there was Lively music playing from all of the different bars so we decided

To try the Kono Romeo Pizza acone which was loaded with ham basil pepperoni bacon corn and cheese it was all right but the service was horrible next door at Alaya home and it was certainly not worth the 1 and 1/2 hour wait the service was good for the beers though at

Alos chingad daos which kept us happy we really enjoyed the fun atmosphere on Kay 28 and would definitely recommend a visit here it even got Tom in the dancing mood but let’s keep going to another popular venue in getsemane called Cafe Havana we went on Sunday so

The cover charge was 40,000 pesos but other nights at 60,000 inside there was a wall of framed photos as well as a big lit up bar in the middle and lots of hanging banners it’s quite a funky old school Decor in here we went early to

Get a seat at the bar and got a couple of Club Columbia beers to drink which I think would have to be the most expensive beer we’ve had in Colombia it didn’t take long for Cafe Havana to start to fill up with everyone here to enjoy the live entertainment which was a

10piece band playing some upbeat Latin music they were high energy for sure and put on an amazing show it didn’t take long for people to get up and start dancing before we knew it there was a whole row of women dancing up front in time to the great rhythms even Tom was

Really starting to feel the music it was an absolutely incredible atmosphere making us feel that the cover charge was well worth the price people were up and dancing everywhere and it was hard to sit still even though this isn’t a rooftop bar or patio our night at Cafe

Havana was one of our favorites and we thought we should include it anyways well we hope you enjoyed our cardana Rooftop Bar and Patio tour if you did please like And subscribe and make sure to check out our cardana street food video and remember take time to travel catch you on the next
