The Prado is one of Madrid’s must-see attractions, but with 7,000 paintings the museum can be a bit challenging to navigate, especially if you don’t have much time!
In this video, we share a few sure-fire tips on maximizing your time at the #pradomuseum In fact, you can have an incredible experience in under two hours!
Just follow these tips:
1. Buy your tickets in advance! Why waste time standing in line when you can head directly into the museum without delay.
2. Grab a plan! With an easy to read floor plan and a list of all the Prado highlights, the plan helps you get to where you want to go efficiently. It comes in many languages and can be found online so you can do your research in advance!
3. Don’t miss the must-sees! If you’re really tight on time, you should at bare minimum check out the Goya paintings in Rooms 66 and 67 –– especially the incredible black paintings –– and Hieronymus Bosch’s Garden of Earthly Delights in room 56A. We also loved the El Greco pieces on the 1st floor.
Bonus tip: Budget travellers will want to visit during free hours, which happen for a few hours every day! Just know that there will be big crowds.
Free hours:
Mon-Sat, 6-8 p.m.
Sun & holidays, 5-7 p.m.
