Casa de Campo Resort and Villas is located on the south side of the Dominican Republic in La Romana and is about a hour drive from Punta Cana. Both Punta Cana and La Romana airports serve Casa de Campo Resort and Villas.
Casa de Campo was originally built in 1975 by Gulf+Western on 7000 acres of sugar mill land. Casa de Campo is Spanish for “Country House”. In 1983 it became the first resort in the Dominican Republic. Oscar de la Renta, the famous Dominican designer, was hired to do the interior design for Casa de Campo.
In 1971 the Pete Dye designed Teeth of the Dog golf course opened, and is often named the best golf course in the Caribbean and in the top 50 best golf courses in the world. Built in 2000, Casa de Campo has a 400 berth marina and shipyard. The 1987 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue was shot at Casa de Campo.
Much of the property is covered by private residences, and the resort rooms and villas are mainly located by the center of the resort where Teeth of the Dog is located. Upon checkin, included with each room, is a golf cart to use to get around the resort, that includes a head light for driving at night. The 4k Tour starts with the Superior Casitas room that is nice king size room.
Around the main building where checkin is, is also the Main Area Pool, with the upper and lower level pools. Right next to the Main Area Pools is the Casa de Campo Spa. About a 15 minute ride by golf cart is the Minatas Beach Club, with includes the Minitas Beach Club Family Pools, as well as the new for 2022 Minitas Beach Club Pool. The Casa de Campo beach is also located at the Minitas Beach club.
For food at Casa de Campo, around the main building, and the 18th green of Teeth of the Dog, is Lago Restaurant where breakfast is buffet style with made to items. La Cana Restaurant focus on local ingredients is also located in the main building. Causa Restaurant is located at the beach and focuses on Peruvian food. At the Marina is La Casita Restaurant and it focuses on Spanish inspired seafood.
