and uh looking forward to this trip it’s going to be pretty damn awesome and uh see what we get into here be a good time going [Music] I don’t think I’m in the desert anymore this out look at this right here quite the view huh and wow that’s where we’re headed into those mountains pretty getting awesome [Music] check this out isn’t this beautiful this is the South Fork of the Kern River and the bridge I’m walking up to is called the swallow bridge and we’ll see if we see some birds flying here in a minute they nest underneath this thing and uh fly all over [Music] what do you think guys fans of the Kur River oh man it’s awesome very nice good today is the water cold it’s a bit it’s a bit chilly in my world yeah [Music] hey good morning this is day 65 here on the PCT it’s a little chilly this morning uh first day really in this SE uh well second day I should say first night but man it is beautiful it’s going to be an interesting day going to try to knock out about oh maybe 19 miles today and uh head up toward our resupply at Cottonwood [Music] tomorrow just over 10,000 ft here in the Sierra and starting to encounter our first traces of snow check out the view pretty darn cool look at these snow cap mountains we’ve hi through a little bit of snow today but it has not been bad at all patches here and there right now it’s pretty dry it’s [Music] good head to Camp right now here you can see where Rangers got his tent set up here and then uh gadget’s working his way on up there as well happy birthday happy birthday Ranger happy birthday 53 53 cheers woohoo oh come on man what are you 12 there you go oops I like the drink now good job man and hey cheers Cheers Cheers Cheers that’s warm carried all the way up from wherever the hell I bought it happy birthday brother wish it was bigger cake a jumbo honey bun woo happy birthday check out the view from camp tonight isn’t this awesome look at that Lake down there wow I think it’s a Salt Lake I think that might be owens’s Lake down there tonight was uh Rangers birthday Day celebrated a birthday here with him there’s his tent site there’s mine back over there marks is back over by behind that tree he’s got a little coverage there he’s using his head but uh man just crazy beautiful up here [Music] [Applause] tonight well I’m out here sight see in everybody else is packed up but man I’m not used to seeing views like this look at that pretty cool [Music] loaded up heading back out to chicken Spring Lake after doing a resupply of Cottonwood hey good morning heading down to heading up to chicken Spring Lake up above Cottonwood pass got a Reese ply yesterday got a really heavy pack right now man it’s like 7 days worth of food it’s just insane but uh walking over the snow but it has some pretty nice views this morning so uh saying some prayers that uh the good Lord might take some of this load off my back and carry it for me today see how this goes morning this is day 67 on the PCT up above Cottonwood heading toward chicken Spring Lake right now uh beautiful morning heavy ass pack though check out chicken Spring Lake man it’s beautiful last time I was here was July 2nd and there was hardly any snow here at all and it’s melting pretty good right now but man it’s beautiful with a little bit of snow and ice wow what a view wow Here Comes Gadget blazing the trail up here in the sieras hey good morning day 68 here on the pretty crazy Trail man just coming up from a first serious Creek Crossing it was a bit chill this morning I will not lie my feet are starting to come back to life I think I can feel my toes they feel kind of like Nubs right now but man got a big climb coming up out of this out of this Campground it’s probably a good thing warming those legs up anyway have SAS I hate post holing so fun and there snow Gators oh that’s exhausting look at the view okay check this view out right here that is Mount Whitney and I’m paning around and I’m going to show you the Great Western divide here in a minute there’s Gadget and uh check out again the lake the mountains here we have Ranger as well good hike very [Music] demanding this is Tindle Creek late afternoon looking for another spot back across but there’s no way in hell I’m going across this right now I’ll wait till tomorrow morning okay we made the river crossing safely and smartly so what we did is we came back out here we’re leveled back out followed guardian and his two sons and uh this thing branched off into like three to four different Rivers before it met and I got back down into white water rapids down there so yeah Wow first major river crossing here on the PCT and it was would have been deadly if you would have fell earlier on the other spots check out the view beautiful sunrise heading on up to Forester pass right [Music] now heading up right here in front of us is for your pass check it out [Music] [Music] coming up butt kicker This Old Man [Music] [Music] [Music] woo [Music] baby yeah yeah enough said woohoo we made it Forester pass yeah wow I will admit it was a bit of a challenge for me Desert Rat oh looks like we got a little gladan going on down here [Music] so here’s the hard part coming down from Forester all these snow fields like can I have crampons on and we hit these patches of rocks rang’s wearing his micro spikes a little easier still kind of a pain but we’ll be back in the snow here shortly crazy come up to bab’s Creek right now it’s our first Creek Crossing of the day I think there’s supposed to be a log which that might be it right there uh that we can take and get across um keep this out the water possibly back out the Avalanche Zone here just wipe these trees out here all the way down and around pretty crazy by bubs Creek woohoo [Music] morning Day 70 heading up to Glenn’s pass this morning excuse the camera glare got a little bit of crack in my screen I have to get that fixed [Music] take a big group heading on up to [Music] Glen pass check it out [Music] wow there’s a gadget heading up Glen pass see the trail hikers and uh [Music] this Glen pass here you can see I’m going to zoom in see if I can get some hikers here to put it perspective heading up on up and then up to the very top you can see somebody just hitting the pass right now that might be Ranger right there almost there it’s been one heck of a climb scramble snow ice loose rocks and scree and right up there is the final destination and then we get to try to climb down this woohoo Glen pass way to go gadget yeah wow holy cow look at that it is crazy crazy crazy and uh head back down this thing it’s going to be a lot of fun too but check the views out I’m just run around one more time so guys great cids this is a big mountain this is what Grandpa would consider a big mountain man have an awesome day you can do anything you want to have a good one all right I’m going to show you The View with a good camera now here’s the Descent you can see them going down down they’re kicking their steps in and stuff as they’re as they’re cruising down here the hikers but it kind of puts it in perspective as far as how big this mountain is and uh this is the side we just came up over here [Music] this downhill ain’t no [Music] joke can’t even tell you how steep that is 70 degrees heel steps all the way down so I get down there than’s doing good it’s h it’s tough man this is knee Buster I wish I could tell you how steep this is if I going this way look at that this is the down project that up there he is finally getting down here to Ray Lakes look at that looks like the ultimate cold plunge br [Music] [Music] [Music] well we all survived Glen pass it was a lot of snow going up very very steep going down yeah but this is where we had lunch on [Music] [Applause] come on series [Music] [Music] hey somebody need put a bigger Rock there for me come [Music] on that was close that was rather close I’m still freaking out of balance oh that’s a [Music] roll exuse next on Mike Rigg’s [Music] Adventure another use for my bikes [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] good morning we did not have any Bears last night here at the suspension bridge this is one of the favorite parts of my John Mir Trail for me is the suspension bridge and uh I’m going to flip this camera around since it’s broke anyway and let’s check it out it’s awesome action woo want me to get a swinging for you oh you dropped the glove I’ll get it smooth crossing the expansion Bridge here it’s so one at a time [Music] thing this is awesome right here more check out the views from the trail this morning got a beautiful waterfall down here blis on trail going up the pincho pass swinging back around here going catch these mountains real quick right there pincho pass still do a panorama here give you an idea of what we’re in the middle of it’s pretty [Music] beautiful check it out out been up here so long in this wonderful country God’s country that I’m just starting to take it all for granted but man it was [Music] awesome coming across the Traverse here on pincho gadget’s coming through right now and freaking Post tooll in bigt [Music] [Music] yeah thought I’d show you Lake Margery real quick here it is beautiful especially with that Arctic blue ice down there pretty [Music] nice pretty crazy Trail here in Spring everything’s melting we got millions and millions of gallons of water flowing everywhere Trails just buried navigating the GPS but and the lakes look at the lake man isn’t that beautiful but man it’s it’s challenging but it’s it’s it’s a memory of a lifetime oh [Music]

Starting the Wild Sierra on the Pacific Crest Trail and JMT John Muir Trail 2024 episode ten hiking the PCT from Kennedy Meadows South to Pinchot Pass. This is just the beginning of the adventure.
