[Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] I’ve viewers welcome back to my channel travel and food for fun today we are in Barcelona the Gaudi country and in this video I’m going to show you two most important attractions in this magical city her guell and la Sagrada família both created by the iconic architect Antoni Gaudi so let’s go start the tour our first stop is park guell we are on our way there one piece of advice try to buy the tickets for both park guell and Sagrada família online to avoid long lines at the Commerce Park güell was built between 1900 and 1914 as a housing project but was never completed due to poor transplants only two houses were built and neither of them will break out however got about one of the houses and lived there [Music] [Music] without his passion for natural forms are on display in part the architect perfected his personal style through inspiration from the organic sense of nature [Music] [Music] it was officially opened as a public park in 1926 in 1984 UNESCO declared the park as a world heritage site [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] we’re done visiting card well our next stop is our rather familiar [Music] Sagrada família the famous work by Gaudi if you have ever been to Barcelona you couldn’t have missed it it might be the most amazing monument mankind has ever made Sagrada família is the vision of the genius Catalan architect Antoni gaudí user literally one years old when he took over the project and what it didn’t know that this project would take most of his lifetime over the next forty three years it became an obsession to him the church is to be devoted to the Child Jesus the Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph which is why it is named Sagrada família the Holy Family the construction began in 1882 after 130 years it is still not finished why would a terrace take so long to build because gaudi’s design was as complicated as it was advanced he thought of ideas that were hundred years ahead of time Gaudi in new hewed and be able to finish this project in his lifetime therefore he created elaborate models in his studio so that future generation of architects could follow this vision [Music] this is the nativity facade the only part of the structure built when Gaudi was alive every little detail here symbolizes something from the Bible Gaudi tried to tell story with every symbol of this facade [Music] [Applause] [Music] the ceiling is a mind-blowing display of gaudí’s engineering trineas when you look up you can see that columns are branching out like trees he wanted to make the interior of the church feel like you’re in a forest he felt being close to the nature was the only work here in Costa College [Music] [Music] gout is where of thinking was out of this world he didn’t see buildings as straight lines rather he saw them as part of the nature that we all belong to in all of his structures he tried to bring nature in his design that made them look different and extraordinary [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] you [Music] the lights coming through the stained glass are filling the interior with the colors reminiscent of sunlights rainbows and lights piercing through a canopy [Music] gaudí a devout Catholic was a perfectionist he was heard saying my client is not in a hurry but client he meant God God his plan was to build facades to celebrate birth death and resurrection of Jesus Christ [Music] Oh [Applause] [Music] this is passion facade also known as the facade of the suffering this facade shows all the symbols telling the stories of sufferings of Christ [Applause] construction of Sagrada Familia is entitled stretch and schedule to finish in 2026 to celebrate hundred years anniversary of God is dead the complete structure will have 18 towers with the central tower rising at 170 meters one meter short of the Barcelona hemlock silk as Gowdy said he didn’t want to surprise God’s creation [Music] while visiting Barcelona one will soon realize that Gaudi is everywhere possibly no other architect in the history has ever had such an influence on a city that Antonio Gaudi has had on Barcelona Sagrada Familia is the ultimate celebration of nature and passion it has become a symbol of Barcelona and the Catalonia region [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] thanks for watching I’m gonna end this video with some clips of Las Ramblas the main strip of Barcelona please tune in for my next video on a second day of sightseeing in this great city of Barcelona until then take care and good bye [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] you
