MT WHITNEY. 7 Days in The Sierra. I Left my Van to Hike the Highest Trail in USA. Full Camping Movie

I Left my van in the Arctic & traveled to the USA to go Backpacking Mount Whitney in Eastern Sierra Nevada 4 years after I hiked the Rae Lakes Loop, Big Seki loop & backpacked Mount Whitney, Hiking the Tallest Mountain in the USA (Outside Alaska), as well as other routes in Yellowstone, JMT, PCT & Sequoia Kings Canyon. With no elevation training for 4 years I plan on surviving by taking my time hiking on the PCT & JMT from Horseshoe meadows via Cottonwood pass, Crabtree meadows & Guitar lake. Sierra Nevada is some of the finest mountain scenery in California, America & the world, & the trail from the west side of Mt Whitney to the summit is the most spectacular route I ever hiked in my life, so do NOT do this in the dark just to see the sunrise because you need to see this spectacle of a trail in full daylight.

Alternative titles for this movie could have been.
Hiking 68 miles alone in the Eastern Sierra.
2.5 hours of ambient, not so silent hiking in the Sierra

Surviving my 2nd Winter of Extreme Van Life, Blizzard, Snow Storm Camping & Freezing Cold which includes:
This is my complete second winter of Winter Van Life in extreme conditions in the North, living in a van during freezing temperatures. Starting in November I go through the whole winter season of snowy winter adventures from November to April, with snow storms, blizzards, extreme cold, extreme snowfall, slippery roads and some amazing winter beauty as well.
I also show you what I learn as I go from my second winter in the van.

About me: I am a Norwegian adventurer and wilderness explorer. My youtube channel focus on outdoor wilderness adventures and exploration, backpacking, hiking, canyoneering, skiing, climbing and mountaineering. Nights spent in a tent, alone or with friends. From the snow covered mountains and misty fjords of Norway and Scandinavia to the remote plateaus of Yellowstone and the debts of the red canyons of Utah to the summit of Mt Whitney and the heart of Sequoia Kings Canyon National Park. I love the Wilderness! Email is under “For business inquiries”, for general questions please comment on a video, I try to answer everyone.

  1. I've just come across & have watched "Alluring Arctic Sailing" – entirely different perspective.
    #440 to "like"
I've never been higher than 12,766', the summit of Mt Humphrey's in Arizona.
Am thoroughly enjoying the wildlife footage.
30:00; Indeed, the Sierras are a very special place.
1:20:15; nice plug for the Rangers.
    To be continued tomorrow.
1:24:34; Timberline Lake, spectacular scenery & really good weather, all things considered.
1:32:16; I was hoping you'd capture some footage of Marmots. How fitting that your tent is made by Marmot.

I was with you, every step of the way, mentally, & emotionally. I found myself deep breathing in sync with your breathing.

I hope the 4 girls log in & say something. Hopefully some of the Rangers you met on the way will de-cloak & say something. This video is truly as epic as epic can be. When I'm hiking most any trail I think of all those who put forth so much effort to build & maintain it.

Your effort, after a 4 year layoff & at these high altitudes – Thankfully, Mother Nature co-operated, BIG TIME with you – I will be rewatching this video who knows how many times as this is in my backyard.
Warm Regards from nearby Reno, Nevada, U.S.A.

  2. This is something else. Most be so nice with the dry weather, so diferance from Norway. The nature is very beautiful here. I hiked on PCT for 3 years ago so it was nice to remember it all again. Thanks. Have a wonderful Sunday 😊

  3. Good afternoon Arctic_Jarl and Fans) It’s good that there are places where nature’s opinion is accessible to a person… Its strength, the rocks and canyons protect from civilization like teeth… The pristine nature of these places is amazing…. Only flora and fauna survive here…

  4. Hi Jarl. You transported us once again – this time to Sierra Nevada. It was a little hair raising at times but mostly breath takingly beautiful . So glad to have experienced that through your channel. Must have been awesome in reality. Thank you for sharing. Looking forward to your further explorations. Cheers and keep safe. ❤❤❤

  5. hi Jarl, once again you deliver a fantastic video. Sierra Nevada has a fantastic nature. It looks very heavy at that height with thin air, we are not used to that in little Norway. hope you continue to make great entertainment

  6. First half of video. – Wandering and climbing by almost 40 Celsius at those deserted elevations is quite a job ! And the morale cann't be every day as high as the other, normal ! But I saw the happiness on your face hearing you say this is, apart of your van, a place where is your heart, a place where you feel "home". I'm glad for you Jarl. Indeed, this country ix absolutely gorgeous in its roughness…… (I saw the video of 2020 you refer to, your ascension on Mt Whitney and Mt Langley….

  7. Big fan of your channel. That is such an amazing hike. I live in San Diego and we have a place in Tahoe. I drive the 395 5-8 times a year. Once you are past Kramer Junction, for me, it’s the most beautiful drive in this country. The Sierra’s are an amazing mountain range. Stunningly beautiful.

  8. Have been so excited to see your trip to this country..I grew up in Sierras so this was extra special. Way to climb that elevation, that was not an easy task on any level…beautiful scenery

  9. Hey Jarl, wonderful wonderful adventure, thank you so much for taking the time to film your stunning trip !!… your music and awesome photography truly lift my soul…many many thanks.Neil.😎✌🏻

  10. Hi Jarl, WOW! I applaud your physical abilities! You seem fearless, but I know that you're also very careful! Was this on your bucket list?

  11. Hi Jarl, love your video,it’s fantastic with the scenery and everything, made me tired to see you doing all that hiking up the mountain, wishing you luck in future endeavours, cheers

  12. One of my best days hiking was when I did the JMT northbound from Horseshoe Meadow. I got to upper Crabtree meadow for the night then started climbing Whitney at 3am. When I got above treeline the moon was 3/4 full, no headlamp needed. It as a surreal experience! That back bowl above Guitar Lake and the switchbacks were illuminated by the glow of the moon. Absolutely gorgeous! Watching the sunrise on top of Whitney was pretty special! Love where you camped that night before your Whitney climb!

  13. Congratulations on such an epic accomplishment! I was wondering if your name is recorded anywhere there as one of the climbers. It looked like you were entering your name in that book on the rock. Incredible terrain. Amazing feat. Thank you for taking time to share your adventures with others.
