Welcome back to our Spain Travel Diaries! In this final part, we’re excited to explore the heart of Madrid after our incredible drive from Malaga. Let’s dive into the daily life of this vibrant city!

Our first stop is the Colegio Nuestra Señora del Pilar, a beautiful school with a rich history. Founded in the late 19th century, its lovely architecture and peaceful courtyard offer a nice escape from the busy city.

Next, we visit the Puerta de Alcalá, a famous gate that marks the entrance to the Plaza de la Independencia. Built in the late 18th century, it was one of the main entrances to Madrid during the reign of Philip IV. This spot is perfect for taking in the city’s history and enjoying the nearby Parque del Buen Retiro.

No trip to Madrid is complete without stopping by the Plaza Mayor, one of the city’s most popular squares. Here, you’ll find the impressive statue of King Philip III on horseback. The square, surrounded by beautiful buildings and lively cafes, is a favorite gathering place for both locals and visitors.

Just a short walk away is the Parish Church of Santa Cruz. With its striking red and white exterior, this 19th-century church adds to the charm of the area.

Now, let’s head to Plaza de la Armería. This spacious square is significant because it lies in front of the Royal Palace of Madrid. It has historical importance as a site for ceremonies and events. The square is surrounded by beautiful gardens and provides a perfect view of the palace’s grand entrance.

Next, we explore the Royal Palace of Madrid. This impressive building, completed in the 18th century, is the official residence of the Spanish royal family. Although we didn’t go inside, the outside is stunning, showcasing beautiful architecture and gardens that reflect Spain’s rich history.

As night falls, we make our way to Puerta del Sol, where the famous clock tower lights up the square. This lively area is perfect for reflecting on our journey and soaking in the vibrant atmosphere of Madrid.

And with that, our wonderful adventure in Madrid comes to an end. The next day, we caught our flight back to Istanbul, filled with memories of this beautiful city.
