The Ansel Adams Wilderness in the Inyo National Forest contains some of the most beautiful scenery in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Recently, I went on a three-day backpacking trip in the Wilderness with Mike “Marmalade” Lawrence.
This video chronicles my journey with views of crystal lakes, snow-covered mountain spires, meandering rivers, cascading waterfalls and various native wildlife.

  1. Was just up in Red's Meadow last weekend hiking in Devil's Postpile with my kids. I really want to get up and hike in the lakes region up there. Thanks for this great video!

  2. Great footage. Been looking to see what you found out about your heart issue from the second doctor, but haven't seen you mention it. Being 66, I have a wee bit of interest in that…..

  3. So beautiful! You are so fun to watch, the way you film, just beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing this treasure❤️

  4. I am enjoying your videos! I am considering an Appalachian Trail thru hike attempt. And am wondering where it is best to purchase the gear (all I have is an osprey aether 60 pack and mini mo jet boil cooking system that were gifts). Do you go to REI for everything or the individual companies (ie Z packs) or somewhere else or a combination of all of the above? Maybe you answer these questions in one of your videos? I am 73 and run about 4 times/week for about 17 miles total. The only hiking I have done in the last 30 years was a 1 day up and back, to the trailhead, to Mt. Whitney about 9 years ago.

  5. Absolutely Beautiful! Stunning! Gods land for sure! Great Video, very well done, edited, music, content! Thank you for sharing such a beautiful area!!!!

  6. Omw Rev! Dixie just mentioned and referred viewers to your channel.

Your channel and content is truly making a difference… 😊

  7. What a gorgeous area! Simply stunning. Do you have any suggestions for hiking – and specifically sleeping – with pain? I have cancer and my meds give me joint pain. I'm fine while I'm moving but when I stop and sleep on a camp pad (and I have one of the best, the Nemo Tensor), I sleep around 2 hours a night because of pain, even after taking Advil. Any suggestions? Any ideas for inflatable bolster pillows for side sleeping? I've never seen one for hiking. Thanks for the lovely videos, I'm enjoying them.

  8. Absolutely beautiful!! Bought myself an LG 86” cheapie at Costco to watch amazing videos like yours. Your backpacking adventures look amazing on it. Thanks for sharing – know it’s not easy filming them.

  9. Wow what a beautiful scenery. Its my dream to do hikes like this, unfortunally I live in a flat country 😖 greetings to you Rev ,from Max from the Netherlands

  10. Rev, great video and I'm looking forward to your 21-day adventure posting soon. Questions: How do you get to this trailhead? Where did you catch the trolley/shuttle? Is there a sign/post that shows the way (turn off) to Ediza Lake? How well are the two trails marked? This looks like a great weekend loop. Walk on, Brother.

  11. Thanks for this great video of a great trek. Clearly, I need to get to the Ansel Adams Wilderness. That was some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. Again, Thanks!

  12. I’ve been watching him for over a year now! I’ve seen you on his blogs. But Dixie is the one who got me started watching you after her segment of hiking as you grow older. She referred to your channel.

  13. I was looking at a hike from Mammoth through Donohue Pass down to Tuolumne. This may have talked me out of it. Have a few questions. Where did you park? At the trailhead? I'm looking at my map following what I think was your route. Ok. Now, the video. Fantastic. I love Yosemite. This video had some of the BEST views EVER. Thank you.

  14. Great video! Thanks for sharing. I'm in the early stages of planning a first trip to the Sierras. I've been leaning towards doing the Ansel Adams Wilderness and your video is further confirmation that this is the place to go. I'm surprised how much snow is out there. The date on your video says July, is that when you went?

  15. Hey, from New Zealand. Nice to see you fully recovered and back on trail again. May one ask how old you are now? I am 85 this year and still getting my share of mini adventures both on foot and on bike; a great beliver of "use it or loose it"

  16. Love your videos. Do or did you carry both an airbed AND/OR a foambed for sleeping in your tent or just the foambed? I am confused as to what to carry for thru hike. Do most thru hikers carry both or just one over the other?
