When we last visited Valldemossa the monastery was closed due to the pandemic so we had to return.
Anita has visited the monastery many times before with school groups, but it was a first for me.
As we entered, we were told that a recital was about to begin. With only four in the audience, it was like having a private concert.
If you would like to watch the recital, please click on the link below.

We then walked through the museum and noted that the Nicaraguan poet, Ruben Dario, had spent some time there and had written about Chopin and George Sands.
Across from the museum we entered the part of the monastery where Chopin had stayed with George Sand.
There was an extra 5 euros to pay to enter the actual rooms where Chopin had stayed, but we got to see his piano and the magnificent views.

  1. Great filmIng Steve, you captured it all perfectly. The bust of Jesus was amazing, albeit a bit macabre.
What a beautiful place. Thank you for reading that letter Anita. Such a special place. Can you imagine waking up to that view every morning 😍. I would spend hours there. Thank you Anita and Steve for sharing your time there with us 😍

  2. Fantastic, what a huge place, loved the way all the old tiles coming through ,the blue tapestry, the art, the church, the views and gardens, it looked nice and cool in there too, what a treat, thanks Steve + Anita, bad luck about Spain last night ,wanted them to get through, just waiting on our result now 🤞

  3. Hello Steve and Anita.
Well thankfully for a few glimpses of scenery.
But the rest of the video was Horrendous.
    Sorry,just my opinion.
    Music Sooooo Depressing.

  4. Loved this video Steve & Anita. We were there around 8 years ago. Lovely to see it all again. Special place 🎶 🎹 need to visit again. Thanks Gillian & Jack

  5. Thanks for the video, it captured the monastery perfectly. I was there 8 years ago. What amazed me was the difference between the tiny room with the wooden bed (no mattress!) where the monks slept and the rich 4 poster beds where the abbot slept! The monks had a vow of silence but could speak to the leaders once a month if they had a problem.

  6. Awww brings back so many lovely memories of Valledemossa in 2019, especially that beautiful courtyard garden. I have a photo of me overlooking that view. It was just so wonderful and so cool on a hot day. What a tranquil place. We experienced a very rude tour person who worked in there. We strayed into the wrong part and instead of explaining our ticket didnt cover that area, she tore into us in Spanish, shouting and gesticulating! We couldn't get a word in lol. I didnt know much Spanish but have been learning since then!! Ready for next time haha! The other guide apologised for her rudeness. However, it didnt spoil our enjoyment of this beautiful place and I really would like to go back again. Thankyou for another lovely video !
