Very beautiful country. When I was young, my dad who was well versed in survival ect tought me well. I often go to the high sierra's to get away from the city. Nature heals all the stress one can hold inside themselves.
Think that's North Fork Big Pine Creek near the Lon Chaney cabin from your pictures and route. I was just up there recently fly fishing the north fork and the creek next to the campground. My daughter just posted a video.
My first time to Big Pine on the N. Fork Trail was in 1984 and went up there every year with my folks. We hiked up to Sam Mack Meadow quite a few times and as beautiful as these pictures are, until you see it up close, as Kevin Costner said in Dances with Wolves "There can be no place like this on earth", simply breath taking. 5th Lake was usually our base camp if not 2nd lake, superb Trout fishing there! We did the South Fork trail once, but the North fork is nicer!
