ABOUT MAKING CAMPFIRES
Due to years of drought and massive wildfires, lighting campfires during hiking season in the Sierra Nevada is no longer recommended. If you do make a campfire, be sure to check all current burn bans and follow all fire regulations as per the land management and permitting agency for your trip area. In addition to your backcountry permit, you must obtain a separate California fire permit in the Sierra. Fire sites near brush, trees, pine duff and other flammable materials are no longer safe. Choose bare rock if possible. Other fire safety methods for clearing a site include cleaning the fire site down to bare dirt, but this counterindicates Leave No Trace principles of minimal impact, which campers should follow at all times in the backcountry. Don’t cut wood for fires, choose pre-impacted tent sites, take care not to damage vegetation, pack absolutely all trash, consumables and TP out with you. If you have a legal campfire, make absolutely certain no sparks escape to spread the fire, and put out the fire entirely after you are done with it, using the drown-stir-feel method described in the CA Fire Permit safety test. Don’t be the reason for the next giant burn in the Sierra. Take only photos, leave only footprints.

  2. How are you video taping yourself? I wanted to video tape my adventures also but don't know how people are doing this if their by theirselves.

  3. The best part of your hikes, apart from the scenery, is when you prepare the coffee. I can smell and taste it. Truly.

  4. A New, VERY SATISFIED subscriber.

Great Work! I Love Yosemite and have never done a backcountry trip like this.

    Very Motivating.

  5. This might be stupid but I'm planning my first backpacking trip to Yosemite and wanted someone I can ask questions to. Would you mind helping?
Stuff like parking at Curry Village, using shuttle/bus to get to Tamarack Flat, good camping spots, my planned itinerary, weight of my pack and how much water to bring, etc.

  6. 10/10. I was hooked the whole time. Perfect music selection, hit all the marks for astrophotography ESPECIALLY with that composite timelapse, phenomenal shots back to back. A perfect hiking short film. You could give a masterclass on nature and travel videography, this was absolutely amazing.
