Our original plan was to climb Mt. Sill, but when we reached Thunderbolt Col, we realized our pace was too slow to make it. I decided to summit Mt. Agassiz instead, while my friends, having already done it before, opted to head back down.
Agassiz is at the north end of the Palisades in the eastern Sierra Nevada, near Bishop Pass. It stands on the boundary between Kings Canyon National Park and John Muir Wilderness.
