UPDATE DURING COVID-19: La Sagrada Familia is open again although visitors should follow safety rules, like wearing a mask at all times, keeping a safe distance of 2 meters from others and following a route of one direction only (entering on Carrer de la Marina and exiting on Carrer de Sardenya or through the museum). Ticket prices also changed. The cheapest one now starts at 26€.

  2. En agosto de 1936 las patrullas de Companys mataban 70 curas al día, le confesaba a Juan Simeón Vidarte hablando de los frailes: “De esos ejemplares aquí no quedan”.
    A la persecución ideológica y religiosa se unió una destrucción como en tiempos de la Roma de Nerón o la invasión islamita del año 711.
    Juan Bassegoda Nonell, director de la Cátedra Gaudí: “Nunca en la dilatada historia de Cataluña se había producido un conjunto de daños contra el patrimonio artístico tan sistemáticamente organizado”. La Generalitat legitimó expolios y destrucciones: se quemaron 464 retablos de valor incalculable, joyas escultóricas, incunables, las pinturas de la catedral de Vich. Salvo el rescate in extremis de Monserrat y la catedral , 500 iglesias ardieron en Barcelona incluida la Sagrada Familia, donde se profanó la tumba de Gaudí.
